There's a lot of elderly people in China and they haven't been infected yet. So two things need to happen. China needs to develop a vaccine that is superior to what we have been using so far. The vaccines we have are working but they are less effective over time and if you are old, even less so. Or wait until covid mutates into a variant that is less deadly so the population can acquire herd immunity. The CCP is continuing to pursue zero covid strategy because they do not have the health care infrastructure to handle covid surges.
