I am not a scientist but it is my understanding that there is ice at both poles because of the axis of the earth and the poles get less sunlight then the equator.
For the polar caps to melt, wouldn’t earth’s axis have to change? Then the earth’s polar caps would just reform at the new poles?
Another thing these great minds overlook is that around 10,000 years ago most of North America was under glaciers and now we are not.
How do they explain that when there were few humans and no SUV at the time?
I remember articles on this as far back as the late ‘70’s.
Oh, and articles on what would happen if the Yellowstone caldera blew up.
The thing is, there’s a market for clickbait content and not enough real news, or real news that’s “safe” to cover. Safe meaning it doesn’t involve a Democrat in bed with a live woman or a dead boy. If journalists were really journalists and not just somebody in their parent’s basement clad only in underwear, we’d have plenty of real stories. Whatever happened to the Democrat awaiting sentencing for repeatedly injecting drugs into unconscious black men until they died? I’d click on that.
Right.
Only getting the Jab and all subsequent Boosters and wearing 6 masks will prevent that.
“Could” means WAG.
Restart the doomsday clock.
We just got another 10 years.
yeah.. this is what happens during interglacial periods like we are in, the ice melts.
Only if you promise.
Coincidence that the BBB bill is being pushed by the climate change wackos in the Senate. The Green New Deal is far more dangerous than what may or may not happen in Antarctica. More fear propaganda from the MSM and the paid “science” shills.
the average sea level has risen by about 7 inches during the past hundred year but ...
the average sea level at coast lines has risen by less than 1 inch
hardly perceptible
in particular, for all the scare stories of the Fiji islands or other island nations being flooded, no, that’s hasn’t happened
as for the melting of ice over water, no, it doesn’t change sea level, melting of ice over land is another thing; it can change sea levels
problem is: ice over land has been accumulating in many places while it has been melting in other places
also: with the greening of the earth, more water has been captured by biomass
and: man has been storing lots of water in managing river and such
so, the net change in the average sea level has been modest and local conditions, to include what’s called “inter-glacial rebound,” has been the main cause of the rising or falling sea in certain places along coastlines
When floating ice melts, it does not raise the level of the water. This is elementary school science.
The math doesn’t work out. They don’t count that all the salt oceans are connected and eventually attain very close to the same level.
“An Antarctic ice shelf could crack ..”
The entire earth “COULD” also explode..
We all “COULD” be just dreaming this life..
Jupiter “COULD” really be a monster and swallow us up like a cookie..
Have we had enough of government-financed fear-mongering???
How lazy! We are recycling old scares for a new generation. Waterworld came out in 1995!
It’s an ice shelf, right? That means it’s on the water. Ice on water doesn’t raise the level when it melts anymore than your Jack and Coke will overflow when the ice cubes melt.
Who is this dumb?
For some solar event to take place that would melt a significant portion of both poles whereby that much ice goes to water, the rest of the inhabitable planet would probably be scorched to a cinder with no survivors.
“Antarctic ice shelf could crack, raise seas by feet within decade, scientists warn”
There is that pesky word again; “could.” My dog “could” be an astronaut.
what about the definition of “sea level” changing? will all land elevations have to be recalculated? :)
That was my first response.
Fire and Ice
BY ROBERT FROST
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
