In my experience, liberals tend not to think through the consequences of advocating gun control, and if their backs are not against the wall, put their trust in the statistical principle of safety in numbers. That is, losses are acceptable so long as they do not occur to me or any of my family or friends.
Taking this one step further, this movement seems to indicate that liberals are not entirely out of reach of reason, but only if the safety in number principle that they rely upon is breached in a personal way. So there is hope, but perhaps we have not all collectively arrived at that threshold of pain yet for it to take political effect (a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged).

It seems like it really takes a LOT of personal pain for leftists to have some truth break through their thick heads. They apparently have no reasoning power about cause and effect unless the effects whack them right in their own manicured front yard.
What did they think would be the result of defunding police, lefty DAs not prosecuting crime and letting violent gangsters out of prison? A painful lesson, but I am glad they aren’t too dense to connect the dots…. finally.
Better late than never I guess. If only their new found reasoning powers would extend to other areas of the leftists’ agenda.
When a liberal has been mugged they know it is the fault of white people who oppressed their black mugger, and they look forward to meeting the mugger to apologize to them.
However, when a black criminal breaks into their house and steals their stuff, the liberal seems unwilling to understand that it was “reparations day” and “their turn” to pay!
