Kind of makes you wonder just what it is that they need to get away from, doesn't it? Lots of self-sufficient Roman manors survived the fall of the Western Empire and became population centers in the centuries to follow, but these people aren't Romans and it gets cold out here.

Sacajawea happens to pass through her old neighborhood and run into her long-lost brother.
Just WOW!
They named the place Camp Fortunate.
Luck is for rabbits.
Divine intervention!
Another canary in the coal mine.
And when Yellowstone blows, that land will be a hole in the ground. But it sure would be nice to own in the meantime.
The issue is a major US (or are they Australian?) News agency took it upon themselves to look the other way rather than do what's right because THEY don't happen to like the individual and frankly his party.
They're getting away with it since 2020 and they're going to do it again. Why? Because they can and no one's going to stop them.
Pretty cheap when you break it down by acre..... But those who worry... Who owned it before? And who cares? The land was still locked up. It does seem like a large lawn for a 90 year old man to mow......
I despise these fear-porn articles written only to try to infuriate its readers and make money for its publishers.
There is a God.
I watched the first episode of Yellowstone recently. The developer, driving the Land Rover, wanting to turn a swath of God’s Country into a subdivision with scenic views of the mountains. Dutton had other plans and squashed that.
Shame what they do to anything and everything they touch.
A buddy of mine lives in Idaho. Very Conservative guy and is involved in the local machinations. Some aren’t his biggest fan as he wants to keep Idaho and his little part of it, the way it’s been for decades. Lots of folks from the West Coast moving in, apparently. Lots of liberals in Boise, using their money to run the locals out of the place.
So, with that, come the folks that want to “defend” whats going on, the development, the building and will tell anyone and everyone, in ear shot, that it isn’t folks from California rolling in there.
What does one do? They might read what a local realtor in Boise has to say about things....
10. Boise, Idaho
A pressure cooker housing market
Forecast home price change by May 2022: 23.3%
Local professional: Suzi Boyle, loan specialist and branch manager at Castle & Cooke Mortgage
What makes the Boise market poised for growth?
“We’ve had this kind of crazy market since 2016 but it didn’t get national attention. A healthy real estate market has four-to-six months of inventory. We haven’t had four months of inventory since 2014. I have 72 pre-approved ready-to-go buyers that have been trying all year to find a home. There’s no supply, unless you’re willing to wait eight months for a custom build job. It’s become a pressure cooker market, because it’s 35% cash buyers.
“We do have a lot of tech people that commute to Silicon Valley, finance people that commute to LA and aerospace and biotech that commute to San Diego. In addition to all that, we have a lot of California retirees coming here. People like the climate, it’s a good place to raise kids, we have really low crime, we have 52 wineries in the Treasure Valley and everybody can afford to golf and ski here.”
Wineries....not something I’d ever associate with Idaho. Cattle ranches, hunting, fishing, all day. Sipping a Chardonnay, not so much.
Tom Clancy had (I believe) 2 books of a similar situation (in the Jack Ryan Series).
I’m trying to find a way to get the new season series..
(My torrent client is broken, for some reason)
Write down the location for future reference. When the SHTF we’ll want to know where to find them and “redistribute” their wealth.
“I love the smell of lava in the morning.”

We visited Whitefish a few years back—and I had a chance to talk for a while with one of the locals.
I asked how much snow they got in town in the winter.
The guy was more than six feet tall—reached as high as he could—and said—”more than that”.

Neat country for bike riding...we live in all kinds of Lewis and Clark habitat...may have camped where we now live.
I live here and don't associate the place with wineries either...but, apparently the Caldwell area is rapidly developing their wine industry.
Planning a wine tour next summer.
