Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is facing criticism for requesting federal aid for his home state despite his long track record of opposing aid for other regions recovering from disasters.
Kentucky was one of several Midwestern states rocked by tornadoes over the weekend. The storms decimated large portions of towns, and as many as 70 people are believed to have been killed in Western Kentucky.
Paul shared a photo of a letter he sent to the Biden administration requesting "expeditious approval" of a request for federal aid made by Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear. Requests like these by senators in states affected by a natural disaster are quite common, but Paul is facing blowback because he has opposed federal disaster relief for several affected regions throughout his Senate career.
Paul is a deficit hawk, who has battled against hikes to the federal deficit to fund all sorts of legislation. His opposition to aid for states impacted by disaster has often been based in his belief that disaster expenses should be offset by cuts elsewhere in the federal budget.

I agree.
I agree.
You can hate the system they make you live under while learning to operate within it.
One thing he advocates for is covering US disaster aid by giving less money to, for example, countries like Pakistan, Somalia, Columbia, etc.
So, yes, I bet many will agree with that. Of course, you probably don't.
Look at Paul’s record. In the case of every other disaster request he has demanded that any money appropriated be offset by cuts from other programs otherwise he would not vote for the relief package. And he has never voted for one
Post his record on disaster aid votes
I don’t know about that but he seems to have a problem with inconsistency. I’m sure he knows that consistency is a hobgoblin. There’s nothing wrong with a little honest hypocrisy.
So, yes, I bet many will agree with that. Of course, you probably don't.
That wasn't the question. Will Rand Paul vote against any relief funding for Kentucky if the money isn't offset by cuts elsewhere? I don't disagree in principle with Paul's position but wonder if he'll continue to hold to it now that it's his constituents who need the help? Or whether he'll toss his principles out the window and vote for disaster aid regardless?
Paul voted against disaster aid following Hurricane Sandy in 2013, Hurricane Maria in 2017, Hurricane Harvey in 2017, Hurricane Irma in 2017, money for wildfire relief, money for the Texas power outage of last winder, the hurricane relief for Louisiana earlier this year, the entire Disaster Relief budget for 2019, and on, and on. It would be easier to ask what relief bill he actually voted for rather than list all the bills he voted against.
That’s what I thought too else extremely young and ignorant :
“ Rank hypocrisy by a Senator, especially a Republican Senator, is something the media is always going to jump on. ”
As we’ve all known for years on end libtard senators always get a pass from the fake media. Schumer has never been called out 🤪
Why not make a real effort to go after the creme of the crap?
Invasive weed is a better word than plant.
