‘He is treating the British public like he has his previous relationships and it’s not an edifying sight’
Boris Johnson is unlikely to raise a glass of champagne to mark the two-year anniversary of his decisive general election victory tomorrow.
It is not just that he once again has a newborn baby to look after. It is because this week has been a vivid reminder of the two factors that have repeatedly stopped him from delivering on many of the promises made ahead of that election: the ravages of the pandemic, and the unforced errors in No 10 which some in Westminster believe have now brought the Prime Minister close to his endgame.
In just the past few days, Mr Johnson has faced allegations of a cover-up over a Downing Street Christmas party; been accused of lying to his own watchdog over illegal donations; and been forced into reimposing the Covid restrictions he once claimed were gone for good.
Woundingly, the Prime Minister is now being compared to the leader he replaced and whose downfall he did so much to speed up. “The anger is right up there now with the dog days of the May premiership,” one Conservative MP says.
“Two years on almost to the day from Boris’s biggest triumph he has, not to put too fine a point on it, f***ed it. His chances of making the next election have slipped well below 50-50. He is treating the British public like he has his previous relationships and it’s not an edifying sight.”
Another senior Tory points to Mr Johnson’s failure to build a long-term power base in the party as a serious threat to his future, warning: “The trouble is, no one likes him."

He should have never gone full covidictator.
I guess “Tories” are supposed to represent the Right, but I’m guessing it’s probably more like the inept Republican party and their mass of RINO’s.
Could have been a GREAT LEADER...but chose otherwise.
Mostly of the RINO variety, you’re correct....
The aristocratic toff “screwed the pooch” as we say here in the USofA.
I'd say most of the "ravages" were self-inflicted.
Big Pharma either bought or blackmailed him—and stomped him into the dustbin of history.
No future.
He chose immediately selling out over greatness. History will not be kind.
Has he ever combed his hair?
Trump curse? He had no reason to attack and denigrate President Trump but he did so therefore no sympathy.
Aristocratic? BoJo? Surely you jest...
A woman who had an 8 year relationship with Boris says that whoever that is in front of the TV cameras its not Boris. Just its not Joe most of the time.
He’s a MORONIC CHILD who combs his hair with a BALLOON!
He was probably a bit too statist for my liking. The only thing I can say is that at least the UK is not like China or Australia. That's about it.
Borass Johnson is a mother enmeshed wimp of a man. All he does is cheat on his current what ever at the moment, sucking ass of the leftwing and overall is a loser of a human being.
Winston Churchill must be rolling over in his grave to see such a buffoon be head of the tory party.
