And just like that, the enlighten rulers of the 21st century have reintroduced the debtors’ prison of Charles Dickens’s era almost 200 years ago.
Since it isn’t going to work at stopping disease transmission, the purpose must lie elsewhere. Namely, to try to scare people into getting vaccinated without actually having to demonstrate the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of the confinement. Oddly, it is much easier to scare people into submission by threatening their income and livelihood than by just threatening them jail, hence the threat to also essentially break them financially.
