Here are some data on deaths involving COVID in the state of Michigan compiled by the National Center for Health Statistics (based on official death certifications reported to the NCHS by Michigan health authorities). First, it bears noting that, according to the CDC, some 85.9% of the population of the state of Michigan, age 65 and older, has now been vaccinated, while some 58.3% has received a so-called "booster." Of course, in 2020, no one in the state of Michigan had yet been vaccinated.
Let's start with the 65-74 age cohort, comparing the (pre-vax) months of June, July, August, September, and October 2020 with those same months in (post-vax) 2021 (i.e., with October 2021 being the most recent months where we have close to complete data from the state).
June 2020 - 71 COVID deaths / June 2021 - 93 COVID deaths
July 2020 - 43 COVID deaths / July 2021 - 30 COVID deaths
August 2020 - 55 COVID deaths/ August 2021 - 117 COVID deaths
September 2020 - 55 COVID deaths / September 2021 - 219 COVID deaths
October 2020 - 120 COVID deaths / October 2021 - 338 COVID deaths
