I think they are going after his appearance because it amply displays an uncontrollable pattern of indulgence in his life that he has been unsuccessful at managing, even after lap-band surgery. He seems to feel entitled to things—food, prestige, admiration—more than fitting.

Imagine the logistics in nature of those two having enough feathers to get off the ground and fly. A whole lot of them.
