Craig Wright claims to be inventor of Bitcoin
Craig Wright, a computer scientist who claims to be the inventor of Bitcoin, prevailed in a civil trial verdict Monday against the family of a deceased business partner that claimed it was owed half of a cryptocurrency fortune worth tens of billions.
A Florida jury found that Wright did not owe half of 1.1 million Bitcoin to the family of David Kleiman. The jury did award $100 million in intellectual property rights to a joint venture between the two men, a fraction of what Kleiman's lawyers were asking for at trial.
“This was a tremendous victory for our side," said Andres Rivero of Rivero Mestre LLP, the lead lawyer representing Wright. David Kleiman died in April 2013 at the age of 46. Led by his brother Ira Kleiman, his family has claimed David Kleiman and Wright were close friends and co-created Bitcoin through a partnership.
The future of money....
Electronic money ... here today .... internet poof ... gone tomorrow
All banking institutions rely on the internet.
I hate it when I only get $100,000,000.
I wonder how much income tax this guy has been paying on his Bitcoin “earnings”.
I wonder what it feels like to be “down to your last hundred million”? I believe I could handle it. Stiff upper lip, eh what!
I've read articles claiming a Japanese guy named Satoshi Nakamoto was the inventor of Bitcoin. Of course, no one has actually met him, done an interview with him, etc.
My assumption is that buying and selling BitCoins incurs capital gains or losses. If this guy supposedly created Bitcoin, has he never sold any?
Which is why hackers spend a lot of time trying to get to them.
Such as:
An Israeli insurance company was hit by hackers earlier this week and its private, sensitive data was compromised.
Hackers demanded 50 Bitcoin for the release of the data, but have since increased the ransom to 400 Bitcoin.
Such attacks have become increasingly commonplace in 2020.
