In a related article, Patel announced police will also be targeting 'middle class' drug users, starting with sending text messages to numbers found on dealers' phones.

Need more than that here. A big part of the reason for the decline of US society is from drugs. Pot, on up.

“There oughta be a law!” Is a recipe for tyranny.
When I look at our over-militarized police, due to the useless ‘War on Drugs’ I think “What a bunch of azzholes.”

The alternative of letting drug use spread and take over is far worse. To me it’s more of a war on crime. Anything you just let fester that destroys people en masse needs to be limited. I like Singapore’s methods.

Drugs aren't the problem ... in neither Britain nor anywhere else in the world.
As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he
WHATEVER was allowed to alter clear and pure thinking is the culprit and must be stopped.

We are going to look at new ways of penalising them.
What is wrong with the current ways of penalising them (prison, fines, confiscation of assests of crime, curfews etc)?
Of course, they can't be bothered to enforce the current drug laws anyway.
As so often, other motives at play.

I like Singapore’s methods. If that is what you like, it's much easier to move to Singapore than try to bring Singapore here. Because of Wuhan Flu, there are 100% remote work jobs now. Just don't chew any gum, else you're getting caned.

The best solution is to remove the welfare state, and allow citizens wide latitude to defend themselves and their property.
Live a responsible, self-supporting life. If you can do that and take drugs, that’s fine with me. But if the drugs lead you to a life of poverty and ill-health, don’t count on the government to prop you up. Perhaps you will just die in an alley. And if you steal to prop yourself up, perhaps you will be gunned down by a responsible citizen.
I do not support drug laws. But I do support a society that does not support out of control addicts.

Yeah, war on drugs. We’ve been hearing this in the US for decades. The penalties, if any, are a joke.
Execute the dealers and report back a year from now.

Boris forgot to mention he’s going to need A BUNCH of tax dollars to make his plan work and oh you won’t be able to question His methods or see any actual results.

Once Patel and the others decide to target the Asian gangs that control the drug trade, then maybe we will pay attention.
Once again it will be a case of tough love for you, but not for my brother.
And if the Patels of the world target the muslim gangs in London, prepare for a shooting war amid cries of “racism” by the press.

I thought this was The Bee considering all the cocaine residue recently found in Boris’ close vicinity, and in Parliament.
