It won’t take as long to cripple their economy as you think. Remember, their population is massively skewed toward boys, since they could only have one child for a couple generations. Since boys are culturally viewed as critical for a family line’s continuance, they would abort or kill girl children. Also, their population is also heavily skewed toward the elderly. Xi is facing the collapse of his economy with a large population of males who have no hope of marriage. He will start wars simply as a function of regime survival and as a way to burn off young male population.

I began writing about the Chinese demographic issue in 1998, to various government agencies. Information on the demographic nightmare was coming in from missionaries working in China and India.
There primary focus was on the reverse pyramid of Chinese society and the coddling of the single baby boy by parents, four grandparents and eight great-grandparents. Along with the abundance of Chinese baby girls for adoption, the handwriting was already on the wall.
They are getting a transplanted population as a lot of young men are bringing foreign wives in. The one child policy left a shortage of females for brides.
I have to wonder if the number of girl babies adopted from China is high enough to make it a problem in the future. One way to know is if China begins to restrict foreign adoptions of girls.
No go back 30 years and read and watch all the chicken little doomsayers who said China’s pop. Would grow indefinitely and exponentially.
I have wondered about that myself. Surprised at how easily the media took the Chinese word for it, given their propensity and talent for propaganda.
The Chinese never said they did such a test, and they are now denying it.

The foreign women aren't allowed back into China. Neither are their children.
China still needs to be rid of about 3/4 of a billion people. I believe the research that resulted in Covid was intended to find a disease that would kill off old and sick (the”useless eaters”) while the young and strong (the workers) would survive. It got loose or was deliberately released, and we’re stuck in with the results.
