I have been minimizing tips into the City of Atlanta proper for almost 18 months now, based on news analysis and some conversation with our police chief in my suburban city. It is important to realize that the population of the City of Atlanta is less than 10% of the population of the metro area. Many, many “Atlanta” (Metro) residents rarely go into the City proper. For some very good reasons.
We’ve actually gotten to the point where there are only two places in Lawrence KS where we go regularly, our favorite grocery store and our Church. I certainly would not go downtown, especially at night. We live in the country south of the city. It’s almost too woke here.
Here is a link to a crime map for the Atlanta metro area. The City of Atlanta is the worst, of course, but formerly safe areas like Roswell, Sandy Springs, and Norcross are being hit with crime sprees. Carjackings or attempted carjackings at gas stations in Gwinnett are commonplace.
