The way the media treated Trump and the spying on him told me that Watergate ‘outrage’ was simply a cover for a coup.

As it was, Nixon was a PATHETIC Republican, far worse than Trump, Reagan, and even worse than Bush Jr. The only Republican who comes close to Nixon was Bush Sr. So he still got what he deserved.

Nixon was an excellent president: he was attacked by the Left because he was a Republican and because they wanted the Communists to win in Vietnam. The playbook was the same one they tried to use on President Trump (and Ronald Reagan, and Gerald Ford,and the Bushes) but it failed.

People who don't know enough routinely dismiss Nixon without learning what he accepted when he assumed the presidency: a long-distance war against a fanatic Communist enemy, a well-orchestrated pro-enemy movement at home (fully supported by the Democrats and the media), a massively expensive Space Race, a huge Civil Rights crisis, a full-on Cold War which almost went hot twice before under Kennedy, huge inflation, Israel under the gun, etc. etc.

But Nixon dealt effectively with all of those issues and would have held Vietnam free - as he did during the 1973 Easter Offensive - by bombing the living crap out of the NVA when they violated the Cease Fire - but the Democrats and their Leftist influencers got him out of office.

Trump turned out to be a much tougher nut to crack, Thank God.
