Funny, the day of the shooting the parents were called to the school and downplayed his behavior and said he should go back to class.
The school administration screwed up. Search the kid, locker and backpack. Send him home with parents. If a gun was found call law enforcement and have him taken away. Would have saved a lot of heart ache and lives as well as the parents’ lives.

Been there had that responsibility in my school. Handled kids with guns in school situations. Parents in such a situation don’t make the rules when it comes to the safety of 1500 kids. The principal, assistant principal or school counselor who ever made the decision for him to return to class should have had him escorted off campus with parents if they could not find a gun. If they found a gun, call law enforcement. What about the school’s resource officer.
With the responsibility of the safety of students always error on the side of caution. School admin and system gonna get sued big time.
