They think they are going to subpoena Trump? I can understand that anybody employed by the government could be held accountable for, I don’t know insubordination, for not answering congress’ questions. But since when did the fifth amendment go out the window, because Congress is conducting a partisan witchhunt?
You have to appear before you can assert 5th amendment privilege.

You’re missing the point, (made clear by Thompson on CNN concerning Meadows offering to appear and claim the fifth), they want them to claim the 5th so that they can then say “nobody that is innocent claims the 5th”. That will be the leading talking point 24/7 after they take the 5th.
