There will be abortion free and abortion limited states as well as abortuaries like California. We shift our focus state to state. Federal funding of this atrocity ends. Social stigma increases. That’s what difference it makes.
Here’s the thing—what strategy will increase social stigma? Will making it illegal accomplish that? Or will it lend glamour to defiance?
There haven’t been any obstacles to efforts to impose a social stigma since Roe vs Wade. Pro-life people have been as free to appeal to the intelligence and emotions of the population as those against sexual exploitation of children. The exploitation of teenage girls by adults has a much greater social stigma today than fifty years ago.
But there is always a lot of ambivalence about abortion in the general population. The question is, how do we sway that ambivalence in the direction of stigmatizing abortion?
