Sars covid has been repeatedly gene sequenced down to the individual rna base pairs thousands of times at hundreds of labs around the world. It is only a matter of comparing the sequence output of the current run to a base code set of the original strain or any number of other variants also sequenced down to the individual base pairs. This new variant does not trigger the S gene panel on the common three panel PCR genetic test. The S drop out is unique to this variant and is diagnostic in the panel.
