Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) responded to a rant from left-wing late night host Stephen Colbert — who suggested that the U.S. should change gun laws in the aftermath of Kyle Rittenhouse’s not guilty verdict.
During Monday’s monologue, Colbert addressed the trial of 18-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, who was found not guilty of all charges lodged against him.
“The big news on Friday was that after being accused of crossing state lines, killing two people and wounding another last year during a Black Lives Matter protest, Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted on all counts,” Colbert began.
“Ok. Cards on the table, I am not a legal expert so I can’t tell you whether or not Kyle Rittenhouse broke the law. But I can tell you this, if he didn’t break the law we should change the law,” he continued, triggering a round of applause. “That seems simple. That seems simple.”
“Rich Democrats believe you have no right to defend yourself from an angry mob,” Cruz said in response to Colbert’s assessment, reposting the video on Instagram.
“He was being violently attacked by three dangerous felons; a jury of his peers found that Kyle Rittenhouse acted in self-defense,” the Texas senator added. “What Colbert is arguing is to outlaw the ability to defend oneself.”

This whole “...crossing state lines” chant is nothing if not a direct indication that people criticizing this verdict have zero idea of what they are talking about and can only parrot what they hear from the usual propaganda sources.
Another person paid millions to be stupid.
Something very American about that picture.
Hey Colbert, what about all those rioters who crossed state lines to burn down and loot Waukesha?
I have no ever watched the simpering simpleton Colbert, but right off the bat there’s no law against crossing state lines and it was a full scale riot not a protest. So he can shove the rest of his schtick where the sun don’t shine.
Lets outlaw blm rioting and enforce mandatory prosecutions of such rioters.
Rich liberals who can afford and employ armed bodyguards.
What’s his opinion on Alec Baldwin shooting two innocent people?
And even if Kyle did cross a state line, IIRC, the gun didn’t. I think it was his father’s, who lives there.
My son lives in Arlington and just got his c&c after about 9 months. Asked him if he was going to try for DC but said it was near impossible. Thankfully his best friend is a Secret Service agent and can carry anywhere they go.

That was the point of the trial.
Some “comedian.” Steve Colbert (I pronounce it “coal bert”—the correct pronunciation) has never said anything that made me laugh. He seems to be perpetually angry and filled with anall-consuming hatred of anyone and anything to the right of Hillary Clinton.
You can’t use facts and logic when arguing with liberals.
I’d be in favor if it would keep Nasty PeeLousy from buying a home in my state of Florida.
“Buying a home in a red state by a democrat politician from a blue state should be made illegal.”
