Forty years ago, my duty pistol was a .357 Smith & Wesson. I was allowed to carry the pistol, but was restricted to.38 cartridges. I loaded 5 .38s, and one .357, with the .357 being the chamber which would fire first. Figured my first shot was the one which would count the most. Never had to test my theory.

Same here. SW model 19. They said no 357 so we had 110gr super vels.

Strange that is exactly how my agency worked. They also would only give us 38 WAD cutters to practice and qualify quarterly.

We figured the only reason they did it was to save money. Like many other agents I just bought my own magnums and had a full load out while on duty. You know the story"Better to be tried by twelve and carried by six".

I figured if it was a good shoot it would not matter. If it was a bad shoot it also would not matter.
