Members of the Binjari and Rockhole communities are "very upset by the untrue comments being made in the media and social media about their situation," according to a statement from community leaders.
In a statement released on Wednesday afternoon, via the Wurli-Wurlinjang Aboriginal Health Service which provides health care to the residents of Binjari and Rockhole, the senior community members spoke out on behalf of the two communities.
They rejected claims made on social media that members of Binjari community were being forcibly removed by Australian Defence Force personnel or otherwise mistreated by authorities.
"We have been treated with a lot of respect and appreciate all the support being given by these support personnel people," the statement reads.
"We are in lockdown because we're in the biggest fight of our lives. We're trying to keep safe. We're trying to do the right thing by the community and Katherine."
The leaders said the misinformation had been hurtful to people currently battling the outbreak.
"We don't need people out there creating another flood for us. We don't appreciate outside people making comments that are untrue," the statement reads.
"People on social media saying that our people are being mistreated need to realise their comments are hurting the very people they claim to care about.
"We want people to respect our privacy and show respect for our feelings."

What claims and how do you know they’re false and what’s your point?
Wha five seen is that aboriginals need to watch out because they have always been hated and now people are trying to get rid of them via Covid and/or restrictions and stuff.
Pretty dumb, really.
If you don’t know what it is, I’m glad for you - you haven’t been exposed to the lies. But the people who have been will know what I’m talking about and hopefully at least some of them will become less likely to just uncritically spread lies.
I’m not going to repeat all of it. It’s bad enough it’s said once - it doesn’t need to be spread by repeating it all just to point out it’s untrue.
How do I know it’s false. Lots of reasons. Much of it is so utterly ridiculous that only ignorant people who have absolutely no idea about the communities or people involved could possibly even think it might be true - but lots of these ignorant people just seem to accept it and spread it without anything approaching a rational thought.
In other cases, I know the people involved in what is actually going on. I used to be one of those people - I’m a retired officer of the Australian Defence Force. That puts me in a position where it’s quite easy for me to read certain reports and just know they are ridiculous - suggestions, for example, that Australian military personnel are being used in ways that I know no serving officer would ever do, but in the extremely unlikely event they did, ten other serving officers would be screaming about it from the rooftops. I also know the communities involved and understand how they function and how that could lead to honest misinterpretation by people who don’t know those communities, and that can lead to misinformation, possibly initially in good faith, but once it gets spread.
I will give one example - because it just came up on another thread. Somebody here asked in response to the idea that people need to be sent in to move some people to hospital - “Can’t people in those places drive?” The answer to that is that, in those places, most people in those places don’t own cars and cannot drive - when people assume they can, it’s a failure to understand the particular cultural environment and why certain things need to happen. People are thinking of places as if they are functioning towns, when they are actually slums shanty villages in the middle of the desert.

That's just two examples of the misinformation recently shared on FR about these things. Both of those discussions are full of nonsense.
What's my point?
Basically I don't think spreading lies is a good thing. And it's certainly not helpful. We have some real issues going on in Australia and have had for a while now. And people like me are trying to deal with those. And it's made much harder when we have to waste time dealing with things that aren't happening. I'd like to be able to focus on the actual real problems - not made up ones.
I've been on FR for seventeen years. I like the place. I think it's a great place for sharing information, knowledge, and ideas with other conservatives. Unreliable information on the site makes it less useful - and can also make us look like idiots and liars.
Thank you for your forthright and thoughtful explanation. I appreciate your sincere response. I am upset to see what is taking place in your country. Specifically, I mean the authoritarian lockdowns and restrictions in the various states (?) or districts that I feel are too severe. Perhaps I don’t fully understand the facts or the context. But so far, I have heard nothing that smears the reputation of the Australian Defense Force or it’s members. I will be sure to recall your admonitions in the event I do.

I haven’t read the postings referenced, but I did hear that they are placing people in housing “for their own good”. At this point, and from my seat, locking down the entire country is actual Fascistic behavior, and fascists do like to get out of control.
Yes, I do. I was planning on splitting my time between the UK and Australia but COVID put paid to that for the time being.

You might have heard that - but it doesn't make it true. Nor is it entirely false. There have been a small number of cases which could be described in that way, but for the most part, even those people have gone voluntarily - in extremis, powers do exist to put people in quarantine for a relatively short period, but they've rarely been used.

Well, the whole country hasn't been locked down at any stage. Whole states have on a couple of occasions, and whole cities, but not the whole country - and, yes, those large scale lockdowns were, in my view, excessive, wrong, and unjustified. They were done by state governments, not by the Federal government - the way Australia's constitution works, state governments are the ones with the power in this case, and some of those have gone further than good government should allow. Part of the problem with dealing with that though is people overseas putting the blame for it on the Federal government and that made it harder for us to get any traction on dealing with the real problems and why they were happening.
Yes - but not surprising hyperbole. These are people in isolated communities far from any area where COVID has been any sort of serious problem and the exaggerations and lies they've been fed have frightened them into thinking this is much more serious than it is. But that's part of the reason why we don't need any more exaggerations and lies. People like myself who have been involved in trying to address the problems in Australia find ourselves having to waste time fighting against lies like "Australia is under martial law" and that wasted time could have been better spent focusing on lies like "This disease will kill 100,000 people if we don't lockdown."

10 Reasons to Drop Support or Mandates for Investigational COVID-19 Vaccines
1. COVID-19 vaccination is voluntary research. The COVID-19 public vaccination program operated by the CDC and the FDA is a clinical investigation and under no circumstance can any person receive pressure, coercion, or threat of reprisal on their free choice of participation. Violation of this principle of autonomy by any entity constitutes reckless endangerment with a reasonable expectation of causing personal injury resulting in damages.
2. COVID-19 vaccines do not work well enough. The current COVID-19 vaccines are not sufficiently protective against contracting COVID-19 to support its use beyond the current voluntary participation in the CDC sponsored program. Tens of thousands of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine breakthrough infections resulting in hospitalization or death have been disclosed by the CDC. COVID-19 vaccines have failed to protect Americans from COVID-19 hospitalization and death. CMS data show the majority of seniors > 65 years hospitalized with COVID are VACCINATED!
3. Multiple studies demonstrate all the COVID-19 vaccines have substantially diminished protection after six months and none of the vaccines have demonstrated adequate immunity from the 99% prevalent Delta variant in randomized trials.
4. COVID-19 vaccines have a dangerous mechanism of action. The Pfizer, Moderna, and JNJ vaccines are considered “genetic vaccines” or vaccines produced from gene therapy molecular platforms.[i] [ii] They have a injurious mechanism of action in that they all cause the body to make an uncontrolled quantity of the pathogenic spike protein from the SARS-CoV-2 virus which perisits in the human body for over a year. This is unlike all other vaccines where there is a set amount of antigen or live-attenuated virus. This means for the Pfizer, Moderna, and JNJ vaccines it is not predictable among patients who will produce more or less of the spike protein. The spike protein itself has been demonstrated to injure vital organs such as the brain, heart, lungs, as well as damage blood vessels and directly cause blood clots. Additionally, because these vaccines infect cells within these organs, the generation of spike protein within heart and brain cells in particular, causes the body’s own immune system to attack these organs.
5. There is a burgeoning number of cases of myocarditis or heart inflammation among individuals below age 50 years.[iii] The Centers for Disease Control has held emergency meetings on this issue and the medical community is responding to the crisis and the US FDA has issued a warning on the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for myocarditis.[iv] It is known that myocarditis causes injury to heart muscle cells and may result in permanent heart damage leading to heart failure, arrhythmias, and cardiac death. Because this risk is not predictable and the early reports may represent just the tip of the iceberg, no individual under age 50 under any set of circumstances should feel any obliged to take this risk with the current genetic vaccines particular the Pfizer and Moderna products.
6. The US FDA has given an update on the JNJ vaccine concerning the risk of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis in women ages 18-48 associated with low platelet counts.[v] The JNJ has an FDA warning for Guillan Barre Syndrome. Because these risks are not predictable no person under under any set of circumstances should feel any obliged to take this risk with the JNJ vaccine.
7. COVID-19 vaccines are generating record safety reports. In 1990, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting Systems (“VAERS”) was established as a national early warning system to detect possible safety problems in U.S. licensed vaccines.[vi] VAERS is a passive reporting system, meaning it relies on individuals to voluntarily send in reports of their experiences to CDC and FDA. VAERS is useful in detecting unusual or unexpected patterns of adverse event reporting that might indicate a possible safety problem with a vaccine. The total safety reports in VAERS all vaccines per year up to 2019 was 16,320. There are nearly a million total safety reports in VAERS for COVID Vaccines alone breaking all records for lack of safety.[vii]
8. People are dying and being hospitalized in alarming numbers in the days following COVID-19 vaccination. Based on VAERS through present hospitalizations, urgent visits, and permanent disability is occurring in the tens of thousands of vaccine recipients (Pfizer, Moderna, JNJ).
9. There is a reasonable expectation for more harm than benefit for the following groups at all age ranges: COVID-19 recovered, suspected COVID-19 recovered, women of childbearing potential, children, persons with one or more chronic diseases.
10. Any personal choice or protected health information concerning the COVID-19 vaccine and its complications is confidential and anonymous according to federal law, and subject to additional federal fines and penalties for violation of protected health information laws and statutes.
In conclusion, the investigational, genetic COVID-19 vaccines are not safe for general use and cannot be deployed indiscriminately unless proven otherwise. Please cease and desist pressure/harassment/mandates for COVID-19 vaccination.
