It may be shiny and showing off capabilities, but it may not have any serious military application.
Yup. Getting missile to go fast is easy. Getting it to go fast and hit a desired target is hard.
Winner. The CHICOMS are notorious bluffers. It defies physics BECAUSE THIS IS PURE BS.
I think your exactly right. I’ve read many articles on this subject and two things stand out in my mind. # 1 is that there is such a thing as going so damn fast controlling/guiding the missile is a huge problem yet to be solved. # 2 is that a laser beam travels at the speed of light which is, lol, quite a bit more than 3,500 mph (the approximate speed of the hypersonic missile the Chinese allegedly fired).
The bottom line is that some experts I’ve read think the future is in lasers not hypersonics.
It’s kinda like showing up at a gunfight with a pocket knife.
It may exist, may work.
But I’ll remind all: we freaked out in the late 1970s/early 1980s when the Russkies produced the all-titanium “Alpha” sub that could go 45kn underwater.
True.
It’s engine also blew up if it sustained that speed for more than a few minutes. After our naval experts really had a chance to look at it, they called it a “grenade.”
The first one was apparently 30 miles off target.
