Never ate alligator, but my daughter did and said the same thing. I've heard gators produce a lot of meat.

There was a bird flu thing going around Asia when we lived in Japan in the 1990s and chicken was suddenly in short supply and expensive. We tried some imported kangaroo meat from Australia and it was pretty good as well.

Have heard Kangaroo is pretty good as well, never tried Gator. Frog legs taste like fish, sort of. I’ll pass next time.
