“The Delta Covid variant may mutate itself into self-extinction and has already done so in one part of the world, scientists claim.”

So THAT’S what the boosters are for—keeping the variants strong!

The CDC tracks predominance of variants. Delta became predominant in the US in early June of this year. Case totals and deaths had declined to a bare minimum. At that time.

THEY REMAINED A BARE MINIMUM for 5-6 weeks.

A ramp up of cases and deaths began mid to late July. There was hand waving over heads about a Delta surge, but the timelines don’t work. There was over a month between time of 90%+ predominance and surge, and there is no rule of the universe it needed to be over 90% to create cases. Should be able to do that at 70% or 80%.

Bottom line. The summer surge has a timeline that does not say “this happened because Delta arrived”. It got underway long after Delta arrived. Like most surges and declines of this virus, the is no solid explanation.

The same is true in Japan. Forget all this stuff. No one knows why the virus spikes deaths and then declines them. This summer surge in cases and deaths had plenty of people vaxed. Didn’t matter.

The bad news is another surge is forming and last week the death count began to align with cases. Winter has arrived.
