(CNN)Most of the 250 permanent residents of a volcanic Italian island have been told to evacuate after levels of carbon dioxide in the air spiked dangerously, causing respiratory problems to people and their pets.
Carbon dioxide levels around the volcanic island of Vulcano in the Aeolian archipelago off the north coast of Sicily have risen from 80 tons to 480 tons, effectively reducing the amount of oxygen in the air, according to the Italian National Institute for Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV)....

The measurements they are using make NO sense whatever! “from 80 to 480 tons”? Really, WTF does that even mean?
The scientists have a giant vacuum that they suck up the volcano cloud and then put it in a bag and weigh it.
Tons = US measurements
Tonnes = Metric measurements
Tons per day? per hour? Per minute? WTF is the correct answer:)
Tons. No time, no reference for volume whatever.
For those of us that understand basic fractions and counting conventions, they have given us a numerator WITH NO DENOMINATOR!!

That is just silly... Only manmade CO2 is harmful... organic naturally occurring non-GMO CO2 is fine. /s

I’ve been to Vulcano. Stopped there briefly enroute to Lipari and the Salina. Vulcano stinks of sulfur. How anyone can live there is a mystery to me.
