I don't care what fagots and degenerates do in the privacy of their bed rooms. Never have. I do object quite vociferously when the queers and gender confused shove it down my throat saying it is an acceptable alternative life style.
But you’re describing exactly how we started our toboggan run down the slippery slope. People who didn’t want to appear “intolerant” were just icing up the sledding hill for what was to come. Once we allow shameful practices to be considered anything less than shameful, the horse is out of the barn and it’s not coming back. Allowing homosexuality to be considered just a personal preference, like any other, and something that the rest of society is fine with so long as it doesn’t intrude upon their lives, absolutely guarantees that homosexuals will use that air of legitimacy to demand ever increasing “rights.”
Moral issues are threshold issues. There are no gray areas. It would be like saying, “I don’t care if people murder each other in their own homes, so long as they don’t bring their murdering ways to my neighborhood.” That attitude eventually leads to waking up one day “shocked” that the same people are now rampaging through your neighborhood, looting stores at will, playing “the knockout game” on city streets, or using their car to mow down innocent people at a parade (all while claiming that THEY are the victims, of course).
Protecting public morality is a non-optional necessity for protecting freedom. A laissez-faire attitude toward morality will guarantee a degenerate society with rapidly-diminishing freedom. Our nations’s founders knew this, which is why John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
SD Governor’s past and present seem to be fine with what we the people find just a bit disturbing.
