Its main purpose is to discourage normal Americans from traveling and ensure that when they still dare to do so government can track their movements and seize any assets headed offshore. I'd say it has succeeded beyond its creators' wildest dreams.
The flip side of this is that your average passenger flight has turned into the equivalent of a flying Greyhound bus ride.
I’m no elitist snob, but I’d find airline travel far more bearable if 90% of the mutants I see at an airport were priced out of the business.
Gotcha.
I work in electrical distribution, and we have endless work and nowhere near enough men. I try to push every young guy I meet into it.
TSA saved the airlines from future lawsuits. If they got by .gov, then that’s too bad. But, if they got past private security the airline might be held responsible. Airlines love it.
The TSA makes one long for the days of Argenbright Security...
*it would seem to me that THE AIRLINES should be pushing back hardest against the TSA.*

2 ideas. 2 different posts. Self correcting. Good job my friends.
So long as you don't count Libya, or Syria; arming Nusrah Front (ie Al Qa'ida) in the process - and supported the muslim brotherhood coup in Egypt; along with the rest of the Arab Al Qa'ida Spring.

All I ever asked of any airline is to not crash while I’m flying but you have a point.
I also miss the $99 cross country flights. Thank the government.
I’ve often wondered if the 4 pilots of the 4 airliners involved in 911 had had the ability to flip a switch or push a button and the ventilating system of the plane immediately dispensed a gas that put everyone outside the cockpit to sleep in a matter of seconds including the hijackers.
The pilot then lands the plane and opens the door for the cops. Or, better yet, he gets down to 10,000 feet, opens the door and throws the hijackers out the door (legally).
Agree
“Reinforced pilot cockpit doors and locks DID”
Absolutely correct.
I totally agree. Whereas I used to love to fly off on a vacation I now just don’t go! If it’s not TSA it’s the mask. If it’s not TSA or the Mask, it’s the damn narrow seat that makes you fly first class if your a big guy! If it’s not TSA, the mask or the narrow seat it’s rude people and too many of them as all flights seem to be over-booked. Back in the day, there were plenty of seats and people were a lot calmer and less rude.
I’d like to see the TSA and the Department of Homeland Security dissolved.
Oh, and while we’re at it, ditch the useless U.N.
With the help of the Congress, eh? We elected him POTUS, not dictator.
A social media acquaintance of mine was pulled aside by the TSA for a search because he “looked nervous”. He was in fact nervous because his phone had died and he was about to miss his connecting flight. He said the search bordered on sexual assault and the guy doing it appeared to be a homosexual pervert who just liked feeling up men’s crotches. Real quality people the TSA is hiring. Ever since then he has dreaded flying into the US (he is a Frenchman). NO other country has airline security this intrusive.
I agree with the posters who say it was reinforced cockpit doors that prevented another 9/11, not the TSA, and would like to add that the 9/11 terrorists had the element of surprise. If they tried that today they’d be tackled by the passengers.
“Homeland Security” is worth than worthless. Its agents do nothing to stop Islamic terrorism because “that’s waycis.” But they label anyone who opposes CRT, muzzle mandates, voter fraud, and even Islamic terrorism “domestic terrorists.” I didn’t want to be right about this, but 20 years ago I told people we don’t want patriot act type crap on the books because the Democrats will abuse such laws when they get back in power.
