Austria to enter lockdown, bring in mandatory vaccinations

Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said Friday that the country will go into a national lockdown to contain a fourth wave of coronavirus cases.

Schallenberg said the lockdown will start Monday and initially last for 10 days. Most stores will close, and cultural events will be canceled.

He initially said all students would have to go back into homeschooling. Wolfgang Mueckstein, the country’s health minister, later said that schools would remain open for those who needed to go there but all parents were asked to keep their children at home if possible.

Starting on Feb. 1, the country will also make vaccinations mandatory, public broadcaster ORF reported.

"We do not want a fifth wave," Schallenberg said, according to ORF. "Not do we want a sixth or seventh wave."

Austria had initially introduced a national lockdown only for the unvaccinated that started Monday but as virus cases continued to skyrocket the government said it had no choice but to extend it to everyone.

Yet many others nations, not just those with poor reporting but like Taiwan, have significantly lower death rates despite less restrictions.

Taipei, Oct 28 (IANS): Taiwan's executive authority said on Thursday that restriction measures imposed to prevent the spread of Covid-19 will be relaxed starting from November 2 onwards as the outbreak has been brought under control. However, in comparisons as this, such aspects as obesity, average age, general health, population density, climate, mobility, heath care, social characteristics and more must be weighed.

Checking the actual data for deaths, one learns with regularity now that this is a “case-demic” being spread by the hysteria of reporting “cases” but not deaths and the lies of health ministers in government.

For any country or area, source the actual deaths, divide by the population and multiply by 100 to calculate the percentage of dead in a nation or state. The percentage of death is now so relatively low and in the normal range, that "cases" is the new hysterical tool, and not all “cases” result in anything more than a moderate flu-like illness.

For the world (using Johns Hopkins and Worlodometer numbers) the result is instructive.

Darn small percentage for a pandemic.
