Manchin: 'Looking very favorably' at Powell as Fed chair after meeting

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) told The Hill that he was "looking very favorably," but hadn't made a final decision, on supporting Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell if he's renominated as chairman, after the two spoke on Wednesday.

"Well we're looking very favorably towards that, because I needed that conversation with him. But I have not made up my mind yet. But I'm just saying that it helped an awful lot having him clear up a lot of the concerns I had," Manchin told The Hill.

The two spoke by phone on Wednesday with Manchin telling reporters earlier this week that he was trying to set up a meeting to talk about his concerns with inflation and quantitative easing.

Trump did not have huge issues with Powell.

Liberals/Progressives are the ones who are most opposed to Powell. Elizabeth ‘Fauxcahontas’ Warren has been leading the charge against him, calling him dangerous to America.

Trump did not have huge issues with Powell.

Yes he did. He criticized Powell constantly and his endorsement in your article was lukewarm at best. He wanted Powell to take inflationary steps.

We really need to get at least one of the non Marxist Democrats to oppose the Marxist who has been nominated to run Treasury.

I prefer Powell to Brainerd any day, though such things are always a guess.

Brainerd wants to use the FED to influence climate change policy, that’s a big problem.

Powell and Brainerd are very similar on basic monetary policy. The problem is Brainerd is a radical who wants the FED to interfere where it doesn’t belong so he’s dangerous in the lead chair.

Powell easily superior to Brainerd for conservatives.

Trump nominated him Einstein.

Besides Trump badmouthed practically everyone given the circumstances. It’s how he operates.

Bring this guy back.

I think you would have to dig him up first.

Trump nominated him Einstein.

He certainly did. He also nominated Jeff Sessions, Rex Tillerson, James Mattis, John Kelly, Kirstjen Nielsen, Mark Esper, Mick Mulveny, Nikki Haley, and a whole host of others who he wound up regretting and criticizing throughout their time in office. Einstein.

Not being able to distinguish the degree of animosity between Trump and the people you mention and Powell illustrates the inanity of your analogy and hence how obtuse your assertions.
