Former President Donald Trump endorsed Rep. Alex Mooney over Rep. David McKinley in a primary contest pitting the two Republican West Virginia lawmakers against one another.
Following a loss in population after the 2020 census, West Virginia will lose a seat from its House delegation, consolidating large portions of the districts currently represented by Mooney and McKinley. Both will seek reelection.
McKinley was one of the 13 House Republicans who recently voted for the bipartisan infrastructure bill, as well as one of the 35 Republicans to vote in favor of an independent Jan. 6 commission, both to the chagrin of the former president.

DJT has won the favor of most of the people. I’d say McKinley is in the process of learning that now.
This is a good endorsement.

Took a break from the Maryland election campaign in 2014 to visit WV and campaign for Alex.
They're going head to head because of DNC gerrymandering.
I met Alex in Annapolis some years ago when he was a Maryland state senator (he represented Frederick County at the time). When he got defeated for re-election, he moved 25 miles west to Charles Town, WV and ran and won the House seat formerly held by Shelley Moore Capito when she moved up to the US Senate. Alex is a movement conservative and a good guy.
McKinley did the nation a favor once by knocking out the utterly corrupt Allan Mollohan (”the Rubber Man:, who bounced checks in the House Bank scandal), but it now appears he has evolved into a RINO.

Still can’t wrap my head around that one.
Gerrymandering starts with who controls the census, and that was the DNC, with some help from Ass’t Democrats, screwing around with who got counted (illegals). I’m aware that WV itself has a R supermajority.
When Grassley announced he was running again, it was over.
Trump backing Grassley didn't matter because no sane pubbie will challenge him.
We knew we were losing a seat no matter *who* did the counting. There was no choice but to divide the middle district, mine and Mooney’s, between the two bordering districts.
In WV, deaths are even to, or exceed births.
Illegals play a very small part in the population...no work, dearth of rental housing.
Mooney is just an opportunistic carpet bagger who completly lost me with his vote FOR the Harris amendment to the Anti-Lynching Bill which would make just talking bad about muzzies a Federal Crime!

Thanks. What I’ve been saying is, WV’s legislature had a seat taken away because of the shenanigans throughout the parts of the country under DNC control.

Naturally, the details are annoying to anyone who hates the political elites.
Some towns are chronically split into multiple districts that are based out of town (Cheshire). Other towns insist on being undivided and have the influence to get results.
