considering the retail price of an iphone, ($1200 now?)

For the high end - which is price-wise comparable to the high end Google Androids.

NEW:
Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G Enabled 128GB (Unlocked) - Cosmic Gray 1,199.99
Samsung - Galaxy Z Fold3 5G 256GB - Phantom Green (T-Mobile) $1,799.99

NEW:
iPhone 13 Pro $999 - $1,499.00 (1TB Unlocked)
iPhone 13 Pro Max $1099 - 1,599.00 (1TB Unlocked)
iPhone 12 $699 - $879.00 (256GB Unlocked)

Refurbished:
iPhone XS 64GB - Silver (Unlocked) $559.00
iPhone 11 Pro Max 512GB - Silver (Unlocked) $1,019.00
many models in between.

Your point being?

Lol. Wow. It appears that the mobile phone is pricing themselves out of the market.

These gadgets are quickly approaching limit of affordability. What do you need a phone for? Telephone calls, and maybe data through wifi and telephone provider.

Being pragmatic... for $1000? More realistic is $500. But remember that if it is free than big brother is making money off you by monitoring your activities — re: Android devices.

Comments:

1. You really don't need the best display possible. Maybe a high definition TV in your living room but not a 4”, 5” display. Heck, most of us cannot tell the difference.

2. Do you need multiple cameras? A single basic HD camera that can shoot video and still is sufficient.

3. Processor power? Again, it is a mobile device. I'd prefer a full keyboard and mouse and a large display if I am going to use the device for work.

As much as I like the idea that the mobile phone platform pushes the technology, it is simply a terrible value. Yes, you can get creative with credit or include the unit price in the monthly phone bill, but it is a huge waste in my opinion.

Nice to see that Apple is becoming more competitive. However, it bugs me that planned obsolescence is designed into the devices. Apparently, you cannot repair the newer devices.

This guy has a lot of videos on YouTube.
