President Vladimir Putin said on Saturday that Belarus had not consulted him before raising the possibility of cutting Russian natural gas flows to Europe, adding that such a move would risk harming ties between Minsk and its key ally Moscow.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko threatened on Thursday to retaliate against any new European Union sanctions against Minsk over a migrant standoff https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/poland-reports-violent-clashes-overnight-migrants-attempt-new-border-breach-2021-11-11 on the Belarus-EU border, suggesting he could halt the transit of gas and other goods via Belarus.

His warning briefly lifted spot gas prices in Europe, which gets about a third of its supplies of the fuel from Russia, including via the Yamal-Europe pipeline that runs through Belarus to Poland and Germany.

Good cop and bad cop routine to remind nato and Europe and America that russia now supplies almost all the gas and grain into Europe, and maybe just maybe doing aggressive Military maneuvers on their doorstep might lead to less output and raised prices.....

What Putin needs to do is start using his power over Europe to get them to man-up a bit and stop trying to be ‘cute’ on critical issues, like immigration and social issues, so that Europeans can still exist there.

Unlike those who can’t seem to get Cold War 1 behind them, I’m convinced that Putin has no desire to invade or physically take over Europe, and his concern isn’t Europe, which is so weak that it can’t even fight Serbia, much less Russia, but rather China. And Putin needs friends for that, in Europe and in the US.

Been thinking his morning about power, as Stalin defined it.

If those who count the votes wield enormous power, what about those who pipe the gas?
Or unload the container ships?
Or stock the shelves?

EU overdid on sanctions against Belorus (in particular about Lukashenko allegedly not being legitimately elected -- well, what about Brandon).

And Lukashenko does not like to take crap, so his threat about cutting gas is real.

Which puts Putin in an unpleasant situation -- especially that Belorus and EU cannot talk to find a reasonable way out.

It's good to think things through.

Yes, piping gas is a form of power, illustrated by the two pipelines going around Ukraine to transfer that power to the actual producer of the gas.

However it is also true that from an economic and market standpoint, it is economical to build two pipelines around Ukraine's Extortion.

So, in this case, compliance with Capitalist Market Principles results in increased profits, economic power AND Political Power.

Really hard choice for Putin and Russians, ... except they're not Commies.

That would be nice, but I suspect Putin has figured out that you just can't do favors for Woke Progressive Marxists no matter how hard you may try.

I would also point out that Lukashenko actually IS trying to use immigration of Middle Eastern "Refugees" into Poland to illustrate the Progressive Marxist West's Political Weaponization of Illegal Immigration to destabilize non cooperative nations.

... I’m convinced that Putin has no desire to invade or physically take over Europe...

Be that as it may, Putin is not likely to get what he wants from Europe.

The European Prog Socialists/Soros Globalists make Mao look reasonable, and they will take Europe into a similar Cultural Revolution in spite of Putin, ... actually FOR spite of Putin.

When Putin was a boy, there was a Bartertown in every Russian city and village, so yes, Putin knows how to run Bartertown, and you made your point quite nicely.

While I certainly agree they want to, and are, taking Europe there, Putin’s goal may be to wake them up...because there are still tons of rational people in Europe and if they are able to unify, they could easily throw the Globalists out in elections (which are clean over there).

this whole brouhaha is a object lesson of how crucial energy independence is, particularly when you are completely dependent upon multiple parties who hate you and each other ... as far as i’m concerned, europe made their own bed and therefore they can lie in it; too bad their bed has dogs in it and they’re catching fleas ...
