Children learn social cues from observing body language of the people around them, including facial expressions. Masks preclude all social development based on facial expressions. A critical period is between the ages of 3 and 11, when children make great strides in reading emotions from facial expressions. There is some evidence that determining emotions from facial expressions correlates with social skills. How many children are being stunted in this area by being deprived of this vital period in their development?

When it was announced on local radio I was driving my young daughter to school. Sorry, I lost my mind and told her we were being governed by idiots. Her grandparents can go to an NBA game and not wear masks but she has to? Have we lost our minds?
My girlfriend is a teacher and said that children who can read social cues by looking at faces score higher in grades and standardized tests than those who cannot. This effect is lasting, even when the kids take their college entrance exams. We are abusing our kids.

Eventually they will lose and laugh about the useless masks. The big question is what will happen long term to these children who are not vulnerable or transmitters of COVID19 when they are given these mRNA vaccines.
If our society still uses any form of ‘books’ 20 years from now, there will probably be several written by these children describing the experience of attending a school where everyone hides their face and speaks in a muffled voice.
mRNA vaccines will be given. Then they will have to go back to masking again. The only answer is to say no. Neither of us are vaccinated (we have natural immunity) and do not wear masks indoors.
Only at school does she wear a mask and I make them give her a free one—not going to pay for this nonsense. If they say she has to wear a mask then they can bloody well pay for it.
Yes and just imagine what it has done to the hearing impaired children who have to read lips but now can’t see them. My son was born profoundly deaf and this masking idiocy has been a real struggle for all of the hearing impaired community. But who cared about that? No one.
I don’t like kids, but seeing them with diapers on their faces makes me really angry.
Deprive children of oxygen, and have them inhale their exhaled carbon dioxide.
That’s a cruel prescription for dramatically lowering the population.
All that type of empathy and human consideration was steamrolled by Big Government Policy.
I have heard none of the so called professionals even address that issue. This effects others too, people on the spectrum
who need to see a reaction from those they speak to.
This generation (the one after Gen Z) will be even less able to function in an increasingly harsh, competitive, and strife torn world. How will America be able to function by 2100?
As an old man with very bad hearing all of my adult life I have a lot more leeway in how I can speak to people who mumble at me with a face diaper on. Poor kids have to take this crap.
Of all the different types of evil visited upon people in this world when I see evil administered to children, my attitude is burn in hell, no forgiveness.
These people are totalitarian sadists.
When I commute to Manhattan, I am forced to wear the face diaper on the Metro North railroad. It's only about an hour each way but it is so difficult to breathe with that stupid thing on. I can't wait to rip it off as soon as I get off the train and suck in some fresh air.
Even the air in dirty old Grand Central Terminal is refreshing once I step off that train.
The poor children, having to wear those infernal things in school all day.
This is especially bad for autistic kids because they have more difficulty in reading social cues. But the same goes even for typically developing children.
There is a reason that throughout history slaves have been made to wear masks of various types: it deprives them of their individuality and the personhood.
With this demented mandate we are dealing with in our county I cannot help but think this is the real intention. They say it’s because not enough children have been vaxxed (yes and as soon as they have enough kids vaxxed they will move the goalposts and still have forced masking).
Take ‘em to court for child abuse....there is no legislative body, i.e., law or science behind the wearing of a mask. Parents stand up for your children or quit complaining.
Yet here in Los Angeles (and I assume elsewhere), the children were brainwashed into being enthusiastic Mask Police.
As early as spring 2020, local papers were running stories of school children protesting "Covidits" who refused to mask, and carrying signs honoring our "First Responder Heroes," and doing "community arts projects" like writing chalk graffiti on sidewalks urging people to mask up.
And of course, attacking Trump.
American school children are as brainwashed as the Spies (the youth group in Orwell's 1984).
