-- Well past time to repeal the 17th Amendment. --

I do wonder what the practical effect of that would be. The vermin infest everything, importantly a large swath of "thought and belief." State legislatures are not immune to the same disease that has infected the US federal government. The effective subversives are the ones IN the government.

There is no rule on paper that can prevent bad people from taking control.

Not to say don;t repeal the 17th, I'm in for that move. I just wonder what effect it would have in fact. I understand the effect in principle, on paper, etc.

I believe that one of the reasons for the 17th Amendment was the degree of corruption found in some state legislatures. I don’t expect to see the 17th repealed any time soon anyway.
