I remember that shoot down. Gary Francis Powers. Really p-od a lot of people that more wasn’t done.
My Granny was muttering about it all day long — and she was usually just listening to preachers on the radio all day long so it was a bit different.
JFK signed the prisoner exchange that allowed him to come back to the USA.
What convinced me that the LBJ theory was the most logical was his mistress. Every other theory was wild and complicated and would surely have someone singing after 50 years.
The LBJ theory was simple and to the point. LBJ craved political power. He was nothing without JFK. The Billie Sol Estes scandal was about to blow up and JFK was cruising toward re-election but might not be able to keep LBJ on the ticket because of the scandal.
Thus the need to have him make a campaign appearance on LBJ's home turf and fly from Ft. Worth to Dallas that morning rather than take a direct motorcade just slightly longer than the one from Love Field.
LBJ's mistress said he was always kind an tender to her except for one time when she worked up the nerve to ask him about that rumor and he warned her to never bring up the topic again. I could read the fear in her eyes.
Elaborate please. I never knew theey tried to off DeGaulle!
In 1992, Congress moved to declassify all documents related to the assassination by Oct. 26, 2017, in response to public outrage provoked by Oliver Stone's Hollywood movie, "JFK", discrediting the official government narrative. Former President Donald Trump delayed the declassification, citing "national security, law enforcement, and foreign affairs concerns," and "potentially irreversible harm to our Nation's security."
Yeah, Oliver Stone, good reason. /barf
Like the Warren Commission, Oliver Stone dismissed the Mafia involvement, which BTW is the only common thread in JFK's assassination.
circle back on this, rx.
thanx
Agreed that LBJ was in it before and after the fact for sure.
Roger Stone has an excellent book on this:

The assassination plot really was complicated. We know this because we have the deathbed confession of E. Howard Hunt that he led a CIA logistics team for the assassination:

Imho the Mafia was also involved in all stages—including getting Jack Ruby to shut up Oswald.
This was “The Event”—where assassins from all over the world, from intelligence agencies and organized crime—came to Dallas to celebrate their craft.
There were dozens of potential suspects on scene—which would make any serious investigation extremely difficult—one big shell game.
sorry. been bush
it was me scanning the news today & I was making a note to “circle back” on your post when I had more time.
“I remember that shoot down. Gary Francis Powers. Really p-od a lot of people that more wasn’t done.”
What else would they want done?
Being a youngster at the time, I really didn’t understand/pay a lot of attention to all the mutterings that I heard from the Adults. And since it was well over half a century ago, I don’t recall a lot of details about those discussions.
I do recall my Granny saying if Eisenhower leaves that Man in Russia, I’ll never vote Republican again. Didn’t seem to be a reasonable choice to me. shrug
