I was born in '65, so that was a little before my time.
My dad pulled a low draft number in '64, so he got called up the summer after he graduated high school. He was sick with the flu so they told him to go home and wait to be called up again. They called him up again in '66, but I was born by then so he was deferred(?). I think he would have done well in the military, he's pretty smart and industrious even in his mid 70's.
