Majority of Texans back COVID-19 vaccine, mask mandates: poll

A new poll from the University of Texas and the Texas Tribune indicates that the majority of people in the state support schools and indoor places requiring masks as well as allowing businesses to issue vaccine mandates.

The survey of 1,200 people showed that 57 percent of Texas voters support masking in indoor locations in the state, reports The Texas Tribune, and finds that 58 percent back masking requirements in schools. Forty percent opposed the indoor masking requirements and 39 percent opposed masking in schools.

Texas has emerged as a ground zero in the debate over masks and vaccines, with Texas joining other states in suing the Biden administration over its vaccine-or-testing mandate for businesses with at least 100 employees.

You got it. Austin. Probably downtown Houston, too. Another city trashed by the trash.

I don’t believe this for one second.

In AZ, there are a few who still wear a mask in stores but it’s maybe 10% of the people. And yes, there are still some folks who wear a mask in their car, alone, or riding bikes, or walking outside. Not going to criticize them because that’s their choice but, it sure seems nutty to me.

I have no idea what things are like in Austin, but in deep blue New England, almost no one wears a mask anymore indoors so I find this very questionable.

Austin is the Berkeley of the South, so that sounds about right. In California, many people are still wearing masks both indoors and outdoors. I was on two college campuses yesterday and virtually all students were wearing masks, even outdoors.

Guaranteed this poll was limited to UT’s campus, maybe a few others in deep-red Austin.

The only places up in DFW area that I’ve been to that require masks are most doctor offices, and that’s it.

Finally back in school (UTA), and all my classes have maybe 5-6 people wearing a mask, out of 30-50 students in each...

Even if the poll has a built in bias, it's obvious why Biden and The Democrats keep pushing this issue -- its a distraction from their failed agenda and issues they are much more vulnerable on.

The crazy obsession with the dangers of the vaccine, in particular, is exactly what the Democrats wanted.

My thoughts exactly. My youngest child resides north of Dallas and they hate masks and shots.

BULL*HIT!! I can testify Since I live in a very liberal blue city the whole city majority of the people are NOT walking around with masks ...A matter of fact you hardly see masked people anymore. So I call this cooked poll BS! Don’t believe me look at the crowds at a football game in UT Austin. No masks in sight!

True. We don’t wear masks when we walk into restaurants, stores, etc. here in North Phoenix.

What percentage did they over-sample Democrats in the people they polled? IIRC, it’s usually about 14%.

“ONLINE POLL”

The University of Texas and the Texas Tribune should go to North Carolina State University and take a statistics class. There they will learn that online, non-random polls are garbage.

To say this poll is highly dubious is like saying Joe Biden is less bright than the average second grader.

Polls are so BS and have been given how the sample who those targeted by the sample. Libtardville Austin is far from being representative of Texas as a whole, at all. Plus, its more The Hill garbo....

IF,and it’s a big if, this is true, and the poll is accurate (not likely), then this is proof that Texas is being over-run by liberals, many from California. But the more likely scenario is that it was a poll done in a liberal area.
