Police investigating a deadly crush that killed eight at a Travis Scott-headlined festival in Houston say a crazed man injected at least one person with opioids during the chaos.
Houston Chief of Police Troy Finner made the shocking claim at a press conference Saturday after hours of rumors about the Astroworld Fest tragedy, and Mayor of Houston Sylvester Turner revealed the victims were aged between 14 and 27.
'One of the narratives was that some individual was injecting other people with drugs. We do have a report of a security officer, according to the medical staff that was out and treated him last night,' Houston Chief of Police Troy Finner said at Saturday's conference.
'He was reaching over to restrain or grab a citizen and he felt a prick in his neck.
'He went unconscious, they administered Narcan. He was revived, and medical staff did notice a prick similar to a prick you would get if somebody was trying to inject,' he added.
It is unclear what drug was injected into the security guard, although Narcan is used to revive people who've overdosed on opioids, including fentanyl.
There have not been any reports of concertgoers being injected with drugs.

Anyone hear the snackbar chant?

The potential drugging aside, I have been to around 1000 concerts in my life, including a blodstock, hellfest and 2 Wacken open airs, never has there been a stampede, massive stage rush. And the Wacken shows were a hell of alot bigger than this thing, and had some bands that were truly scary, but the crowd never did anything like this crap.
Different mindset from the fans I guess.

It’s the first I have heard of it, but anyone who goes around injecting people with God knows what deserves whatever he gets when someone catches him doing it.
“they administered Narcan”
How in the world did they know to do that?
I had a scary experience at a UFO concert way back in the day. General admission at the Aragon “Brawlroom” as it was know. My girlfriend at the time was nearly the victim of a human stampede when she was pinned into a chain link fence as the crowd pushed it down.
That was my last “general admission” concert.

Yeah, but before you’d hear gun shots and think it was fire works, now you hear fire works and think guns. Everybody feels like they are sitting on a powder keg 24/7.

SO MUCH THIS. (and btw you lucky SOB as a metalhead at heart those festival lineups are INSANELY good compared to what we get here in the States) Husband and I were at Louder than Life (hard rock/metal festival in Louisville KY) in late Sept and we saw ONE person passed out and pulled from the crowd in the whole FOUR days we were there.

it’s a thing:
4 Nov: BBC: Injection spiking: Sheffield city centre police patrols increased
City centre police patrols will be increased in Sheffield this weekend after three women were injection spiked.
The victims were all taken to hospital after being injected on nights out last weekend, South Yorkshire Police said.
Wiktoria Wizyszcz, a member of a student-led safety campaign, said the use of needles also created fears of infection.
Police said all three women had since been released from hospital...
Ms Wizyszcz, from Claim Back West Street, said the group had been working with agencies and venues in the city to get more anti-spiking measures in place, but the use of a needle made that more difficult...

Yuuuuuuuup. there's been metal festivals all year and we've not had anything CLOSE to the insanity we're reading about here. Four days at Louder than Life hard rock/metal festival here in Louisville KY and we saw ONE person passed out and pulled from the crowd that whole weekend, compared to the disaster we hear this ONE night at Astroworld.
Crazed lunatic injecting people with stuff against their will, causing panic and death
Where have I heard this before? I bet this particular lunatic did not fund inhumane beagle experiments though
Ufo force it, great album.
The FIB will find him after they catch the Las Vegas shooter.
The day after never.
All you have to do is buy tickets 3 years in advance, hahaha.
Great times from 2010 to 2015, had several friends living in France at the time, so it pretty easy.
I was at Altamont when I was 15.....Now that was ORDER!
Did the FIBs or DEA give him the drugs?
Damn, that most have been something.
My uncle was at Monterey pop.
He didn’t go to Altamont, though I think he was the guest of L.A. county at that time.
