An aide who traveled with President Biden to Europe last week has tested positive for a breakthrough COVID-19 infection, according to multiple reports.
The aide tested positive in Scotland via a lateral flow rapid test required for everyone attending the 26th United Nations Climate Change conference (COP26) in Glasglow, Scotland, The Associated Press reported.
The aide is asymptomatic and fully vaccinated, the AP reported. They will remain in Scotland to quarantine while they undergo further testing.
Out of an abundance of caution, several staff members who were in close contact with the aide returned to the U.S. on a separate government airplane, not aboard Air Force One...

It makes no sense to claim that an asymptomatic positive test is evidence that the vaccine doesn’t work. Or, if you’re on the left, that shamdemic is still a threat.
It’s not meaningless in NYS.
NYS counts asymptomatics, probables, and repeat positives of the same patient as new cases.
It makes no sense to mandate vaxxes when the CDC refuses to make its employees get them.
But then CoupFlu has NEVER been about public health.
If she was tested using PCR it might also mean that she is a soft drink or a grapefruit. The test is so very accurate.
As of the latter part of October, and in response to complaints, not of false positives, but of cost of repeated PCRs to vacationing families, the UK transitioned to ‘lateral flow tests’ (80-90% reliable) with positives confirmed by a PCR test.
Lateral flow tests are similar to pregnancy tests - wait 30 minutes and if there’s two lines you’re positive, control line only and you’re negative. These are the ‘at home quick tests’ you can buy at the local Walgreens, etc.
Except for the cost, PCR tests don’t seem to be an issue in many places other than the US. And even in the US, weekly or bi-weekly PCR tests are being offered in some places as an alternative to vaccination.
