My kid and friends were going 80. Hit a tree. Friend was driving recklessly. We did not press charges. His guilt and suffering was enough...and continues to be. I pray for him constantly.
Told my son in ER to forgive him. He does.
Young and stupid.
I did stupid stuff, too, as a teen and even into my 20s. I survived and learned better ways of living, and not dying.
Back in the late 70’s, a friend of mine was out with a bunch of girlfriends and they had been drinking. My friend wanted to go home but they talked her into staying with them. She was in the back of a pickup with a camper top. Driver pulled out from a side street to a major thoroughfare and smashed into a pole killing my friend in the back. The driver I think got probation, under age driving while impaired. Having to live with that the rest of your life would be terrible.
When my kids got to late high school/early college, I’d tell them that story about not driving while drinking or getting into a car where the driver had been.
God loves you.
