You need to educate yourself. Teachers unions heavily influence school board elections, especially the head of school boards, most of whom have union backgrounds.
It is voter apathy that allows this.
The system to pit school board against union should work, but it has become a symbiotic relationship that drains taxpayers and fosters an agenda.

I don’t know about a lot of things. But I know about teacher unions, as I was an involuntary member of one for almost 30 years.

True that. But a lot of other special-interest groups do the same. Anyway, here’s the odd thing. I know a few retired teachers who became school board members. All of a sudden they stopped worrying about effective teaching and classroom discipline. Instead they became social justice warriors.
I can’t see how the union can be blamed for that. As you noted, it’s a voter apathy problem.
