In the past, when I voted, I signed their little book, where it had an image of my signature, and I had to sign immediately below it. It was pretty easy to catch someone forging.
When I voted yesterday, not only was I not asked for ID (they haven't asked for ID in years), but the book I signed did not have any signature image for comparison. I could literally have been anyone who knows my name and address, because that's all they asked for.

I had to sign a pad and I saw that when it was turned to the poll worker my signature image was there for the worker to see.

I had to sign twice. First, with pen on a paper slip and then again on a tablet screen with a stylus. At one point in the process, 2 of my signatures popped up on the screen for comparison. Presumably, one was the signature they had on file.
I was not asked to show ID, although a poll worker at the check-in table asked the woman in front of me if she had ID. I wasn't paying attention to their conversation to know why she was asked.
