“Could” is a different word than “would”. His “could” statement will be seen as weakness by the Chicoms.
“Must” or “will” are the only words they respect.

Milley I guess thinks the war can be won by drones alone as he and the resident start destroying our military for the benefit of the PRCs/CCP!

Anyone who believes otherwise is deluded by their emotions.
Many want to believe the US could not prevail.
They need to examine their motives.

Wave the rainbow flags from ships—that will make the Chinese sailors and soldiers die from laughing so hard.

The US has the ability to prevail, of course—with sound leadership in the military.
But—the current crop of clowns are not ready for prime time.

Only if we went nuclear. Otherwise we’d get there a day late and a dollar short.

Defending Taiwan vs China will mean running a Chinese blockade of Taiwan (which would be no Berlin Airlift). Once the PLA has decided to do the blockade, they will be “all in”, no half-measures.
At that point, you are right. Our only recourse then would be to exert blockades/embargoes vs China, enlisting and marshaling as many powerful countries of the world alongside us. I believe that such a chess match would already have been played out in those inscrutable minds of the CCP. They would have counted the cost and found it surmountable.

He talks like we’d not take heavy casualties in defending Taiwan, a country right off the coast of communist China.

Milley: US ‘absolutely’ could defend Taiwan from China Just like they “absolutely” defended the Afghanistan airport in Kabul?
