Seems like I've read that the USDA Forest Service (or NPS?) sometimes uses explosives to blow bear carcasses to bits. If so, then dead bears sometimes explode...

Normally it is other dead animals that they blow up so they do not attract bears.
In the Bob Marshall wilderness in Montana.
I had a conversation with a fellow who’s job was to blow up critters.
Hw was packing in to blow up a dead horse at that time.
