There is an old joke that says, I don't need it good, I need it Tuesday. The laugh line is that speed is counted more important than quality.

That is not true when it comes to calling elections. One missed call and reputation is tainted for the ages. Being first to call is a transitory achievement that fades with the next commercial.

If the call is made late but after the polls close it makes no difference whether Fox was first or CNN was first. But let Fox once get it wrong and credibility, the only asset a news organization has to sell, is tarnished.

No matter what argument we have with Fox concerning its conservative bona fides, the timing of an election call after the polls close is not a legitimate beef.

Worse. They were hoping, praying, or ...expecting a boatload of McAuliffe votes would be dumped at the last minute pushing Terry ahead. At which time, they would have immediately declared him the winner.

How do you know that wasn't done anyway? The dumping in of illegal votes that is? Maybe they just didn't dump enough. I recall there being a big tantrum being thrown by the Dems over the 300,000 mail in voter ballot forms the Dems relied on heavily in their campaign to steal the votes that the USPS didn't get delivered in time. Or at least that was what I read I believe.

Worse. That race was a big win for Trump supporters and Fox is run by never-Trumpers.

I can’t imagine the weirdness the pro-Trump show hosts have to endure at Fox headquarters. There have to be some awkward moments in the elevators and such.

By the way, did anyone else notice Youngkin didn’t thank Trump or Trump supporters in his victory speech?

I don’t expect him to wrap himself in a Trump flag, but a shout out would have been nice, as it would have helped twist the knife in the Democrats’ loss.
