People don’t mind being fooled. If that wasn’t the case the advertising industry wouldn’t be so prosperous. Their stock and trade is grossly misleading messaging. Why do they do it? Because it works. The public eats it up.
And why do politicians lie like rugs? Again, it works for them.
The public is VERY gullible and easy to mislead. That said, most people will swear that they detest the idea of being brainwashed. Yet they willingly and blindly follow social trends, succumb to peer pressure, buy whatever fashions are pushed on them, run with the herd, etc.
Lies, misinformation and propaganda work. We live in a sea of it.
