In summer 2019, a new Facebook user named Carol Smith signed up for the platform, describing herself as a politically conservative mother from Wilmington, North Carolina. Smith’s account indicated an interest in politics, parenting and Christianity and followed a few of her favorite brands, including Fox News and then-President Donald Trump.
Though Smith had never expressed interest in conspiracy theories, in just two days Facebook was recommending she join groups dedicated to QAnon, a sprawling and baseless conspiracy theory and movement that claimed Trump was secretly saving the world from a cabal of pedophiles and Satanists.
Smith didn’t follow the recommended QAnon groups, but whatever algorithm Facebook was using to determine how she should engage with the platform pushed ahead just the same. Within one week, Smith’s feed was full of groups and pages that had violated Facebook’s own rules, including those against hate speech and disinformation.
Smith wasn’t a real person.

This Brandy Zadrozny is a real piece of work. She doesn’t bother to hide her active support for Antifa, and has been all over the interwebs giving the radical left tips on how to research and dox anyone to the right of Che Guevera.

What’s BS? I didn’t read the whole article but these sites have algorithms that will feed you information and stories it thinks you will like based on keywords you use - all to get you to use the platform more often and generate ad revenue for Facebook.
They went down a rabbit hole. Should’ve just let it be a free speech platform. Report crimes and otherwise let the users be their own activists. But that’s not the way to maximize revenues.

I am Conservative, post many Conservative things on Facebook and they never fed me Q-Anon or other conspiracy type stuff, in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 or since; not even Proud Boys or similar.
What I do know is Facebook does censor, restrict, ghost and deplatform Conservative pages and they want their own Liberal-Left agenda enclosed in government social media rules so they can pretend they are not in fact what they are and want to be - Liberal-Left censors - but then just doing what the government tells them to do. That is the narrative their phony “whistleblowers” have in Congress now.

I do get recommendations for lost/found pet groups, crafting tips groups and the like.

Maybe you post or read other things that make them send you other information. Or maybe it is based on your location. I am not confirming the details of this specific story, just saying it is no secret these companies feed you what they think will keep you “sticky” on the platform to generate more ad revenues.

IMHO Faceplant should be “canceled”. Never even considered going into the social media cesspit, but looking in from the outside it’s nothing short of appalling what it’s doing to people.
And pushed the claim that Facebook is dangerously recruiting for alt right political groups.
Which, if anyone has ever used Facebook can tell you, is complete nonsense that exists only in the brain of a radical Leftist Antifa/BLM supporting nutcase.
