Saw a couple of interesting videos over the weekend.
- China's factories are reporting no orders. Retailers can't get the stuff they have ordered in, so they aren't placing more orders.
- A shoe shop said that almost everything they did receive was molded. The selica gel packs designed to absorb moisture can't handle being at see for this long.
- China's factory shutdowns due to lack of power is due to their tempter tantrum as Austrailia for calling for Wuhan Lab to be investigated. China banned Austrailian coal and shot themselves in the foot, in the process. That also revealed a MAJOR weakness in the Chinese economy. They are very much dependent on energy imports, and just banning coal from Austrailia alone has caused them major disruptions.
- According the the Financial Times, L.A. is the least efficient major port.
- Containers are also backed up at Rotterdam (6 day wait) and at Shanghai (3 day wait).
- Covid regulations were cited by some articles as a cause. At least one thing I saw is that shipping workers are quitting because they aren't allowed off the ship at any ports.

Retailers can't get the stuff they have ordered in, so they aren't placing more orders. I've been there.
Purchase Order 1: Fulfilled. Items are On-Hand; in the warehouses and on the store shelves
Purchase Order 2: Open. Items in transit from the manufacturer.
Purchase Order 3: Not yet written. Quantities on this will not exceed Demand/Forecast minus On-Hand and In-Transit
Repeat as necessary...
