I wonder if anyone has studied if there is a relationship between flu shots and vulnerability to Covid? Elderly people are far more susceptible to serious outcomes from Covid than other people, and they are the ones most likely to have been taking a flu vaccine for many years.

I questioned this early on. I also wonder whether the opposite is true. Are those who never take the flu shot less likely to get or get seriously ill if they do get COVID?

I doubt any sort of useful study could be done even if there was an interest in doing so.

You just can’t isolate the variable sufficiently to get anything worthwhile. Elderly people just have too many things going on that cause immune system weakness. It is unfortunately a fact of life that for many (most?) elderly the immune system loses it’s juice to some degree.

There’s a study out that shows the flu shot can help protect against the more severe effects of Covid. In the future though they may mix the Covid vaccine and flu shots together in one. No way I’m getting the flu shot either if that transpires.
