So I have a personal story to tell that I think might amuse you all.

My granddaughter phoned me up and we discuss what we’re doing. She is 17, be 18 in December, is in her last year of high school, father died a few months ago at age 57 She has had the strangest life with a mother afflicted with Munchaussen and now living with various relatives to get it done.

She is a pretty girl, but probably not prettier than any of yon readers children or grandchildren...just pretty in that sense of a 17 year old.

so she has a boyfriend. I met him over the Iphone in a visual call. He is a nice guy, telling me how much he likes his job, it has good benefits. He is 19, about to turn 20 and guess what his name is?

HUNTER!

So in a future conversation I tell her that is the same name as Biden’s son and she says her grandpa teases him about this always.

I mention something about being a hunter, a joke of sorts, and I almost pass out with what she tells me next. “We’re going hunting together next week,” she says, casually.

I gasp and ask her if she plans to shoot any deer.

“I have already killed deer before,” she tells me, causing me to gasp again. “I love, love, love deer meat,” she says and I almost faint.

Understand that I have nothing against hunters and/or deer meat but I did grow up in the age of Bambi and would not dream of eating a deer. Further, I had no idea this pretty all-American teenager had went hunting ever before, much less ate Bambi and on and on and she told me she had her hunter’s license and I am still shocked.

So I discuss Hunter’s family and somewhere along the line I mention politics and in due course she says....”Oh they are Republicans, of course,” and with this, well this makes me happy.

She had been sending me nasty Biden cartoons when once upon a time I recall her being sort of liberal to my despair.

BUT NO MORE!

She has her own rifle, eats deer meat, and is dating a serious conservative who has a good job that he adores.

Well I’m still getting over it all.
